Bradenton, FL - Michael James Dawborne, aged 83, passed away on September 5, 2024, in Bradenton, FL. Born on November 10, 1940, in Codicote, Hertfordshire, England, he was a cherished husband, brother, uncle and friend.
Michael's early education and training in automotive repair in England laid the foundation for a diverse career. He moved to Bermuda in 1969, where he excelled as the Manager of the Parts & Service Department at Pearman Watlington. In 1978, he and his wife, Edna, whom he married in Bermuda, relocated to Bradenton, FL. Here, he continued his career in the construction industry, specializing in the sale of pneumatic tools.
An avid horse lover and a member of the Bermuda Riding Club, Michael continued his equestrian pursuits in Florida. His passion for MG cars was evident in his active participation in various MG car clubs and his meticulous care for his 1970 MGB. Michael also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, working outdoors, particularly in his yard, and was known for his great sense of humor and storytelling, which brought joy to those around him.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Edna (Sullivan) Dawborne; sisters, Bernadette Ashcroft of England, Madeline Manasse (Arthur) of Australia, and Sister Marguerite Dawborne (Canossian Daughters of Charity) in Japan; brother-in-law, Roger Kitchen of Savannah, GA; caretaker and brother-in-law, Joseph Jones and Ellen (Sullivan) Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews in the States and England. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Dawborne, sister, Stella Kitchen and brother-in-law, Howard Ashcroft.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 11:30 am in St. Agnes Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, with Father Paul Catena, officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY. Michael's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
