Pauline Lauer, 90, formerly of 515 Park Ave., passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer.
Pauline was born February 23, 1921 in Ilion the daughter of the late Earl and Grace Luther Ennis and was educated in the Ilion School District. On June 12, 1948 Pauline was united in marriage with Arthur Lauer in Ilion, Mr. Lauer passed away March 29, 1971.
Pauline was employed in the cafeteria in the Ilion Central Schools for several years prior to her retirement she also worked at the Ilion Fish Market and during WW2 Pauline was employed with Remington Arms in Ilion.
Pauline was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion, a Deacon of the church and former Sunday School Teacher, a former Girl Scout Leader and past president of the East Frankfort PTO for over 10 years.
Pauline's mission for the church was sending cards to those who were in need of them.
Pauline is survived by two daughters and sons in law Gail and Peter Polus of Herkimer, Gwen and Bill Gahan of Ilion, a sister in law Paula Fury of Tuscon, AZ, a special niece Paula Burns of Palm Coast FL, five grandchildren Peter and Shaula Polus, Chad and Jennifer Polus, Heather and Mark Mosney, Garrett Conroy and fianc Tricia Paugh, and Kayla Conroy and special friend Kevin Kininke, nine great grandchildren Alex and Justin Swieton, Zackary, Nathaniel, Abigal, and Jillan Polus, Meira and Peter Mosney, Maxwell Polus, Zackary Zaborek, and Brody Garrett Conroy, also several nephews.
Pauline was predeceased by a son Glenn A, Lauer in 1965 and her brother Carlton Ennis.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lauer will be held on Thursday October 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church Morgan Street Ilion with Rev Victor Mc Kusick officiating.
Interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery Ilion.
Friends may call on Wednesday October 19, 2011 from 5:00 -7:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or the Herkimer County Humane Society in Pauline's memory, envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
