Mohawk, NY – Kenneth Roger Parkhurst Sr., lovingly known as "Pops, " passed away peacefully at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 83 alongside family by his side.
Ken was born on July 31, 1941, in Nelliston, New York, a son of the late James and Ruth Wetterau Parkhurst. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School and proudly served his country in the US Army. He was married to Jean DeLisle on May 15, 1965. The two shared a blessed union until Jean's passing on May 30, 2019. Ken devoted 38 1/2 years of his life to the Remington Arms Co. in Ilion, where he was employed checkering stocks. His career led to his great love for firearms. He also had a love for cars and trucks and most especially enjoyed his time going out for meals with his family.
Ken is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Melissa and David Blair of Rome, Kenneth Parkhurst, Jr. and his wife, Christine of Tennessee, Randy Parkhurst and his wife, Heidi of Oregon, and Kevin Parkhurst and his wife, Patty of Ilion. He was a proud grandfather to Tiffany, Adam, Vivienne, Stephanie, Kevin Jr, and William and was cherished deeply by his several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 10:30 am in the Church of the Annunciation, 50 West St. Ilion, NY 13357. Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 am in the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in Mohawk Cemetery, later in the Spring.
