Ilion - Randy Lynn Griffin, 58, of Ilion, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the Wynn Hospital following complications from surgery.
He was born on September 13, 1966, in Herkimer, the son of Gail Furlong Griffin and the late Edward Griffin. Randy was a lifelong resident of Ilion. He attended Ilion Schools and graduated with the Class of 1984. Following his passion for craftsmanship, he became a skilled welder, dedicating his career to Austin Mohawk in Utica, where he was currently employed. Randy enjoyed sitting on the front deck of his new home, having backyard fires, and playing cards with Skip and Amy.
Randy is survived by his devoted partner, Christy Grogan of Ilion, and her daughter, Kayla and her husband, Kyle Howe of Whitesboro. He shared a special bond with Kayla's children, Anola and Bennett, who brought joy to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Brian Griffin and his wife Beverly of Little Falls and their children, Brice Griffin and his wife Kerri (Kinville) and their children, Jacob, Gaby and Connor; his sister-in-law, Sue Griffin of Ilion and his nephew, Tommy Chilluffo and his wife, Vicki. Randy will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his brother Edward "Eddie" Griffin in 2023, and his beloved maternal grandmother, Bessie "Nanny" Blume, who played a significant role in his upbringing and cherished memories.
A visitation will be held to celebrate Randy's life on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion, NY. The family invites all who knew Randy to come share their stories and honor his memory. He will be laid to rest later in the Spring in Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
