Raymond Michael 'Mike' Brayton

Raymond "Mike" Brayton, 59, of Jefferson St. in Little Falls passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on July 12, 2014 at home.
Mike was born on January 19, 1955 in Ilion the son of the late Raymond and Mary (White) Brayton.
After graduation from Ilion High School, Mike joined the Army, honorably discharged in 1980. His service in the Medical Corp led him to pursue a career in nursing. He graduated from HCCC and received his RN from MVCC.
Mike worked at Little Falls and various other local hospitals. Many of his patients, especially the elderly and their families, praised him for his caring and gentleness.
Mike, a member of the Akwesasne Mohawk Tribe, was very proud of his Native American heritage, an avid Yankees and SU Basketball fan and a voracious reader. Also a lover of all animals especially his dog and 3 cats, all rescue animals.
Mike is survived by his son Eric of Cortland; a sister Barbara and her husband Joe Bono and a brother Thomas and his wife Debra all of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Jevon, Josie and Keira, a niece Jackie and a nephew Christopher. As well as many cousins and lifelong friends, too numerous to mention.
Visitation for Mike will be held at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion on Monday July 21, 2014 from 4-7pm. Deacon James Bower will officiate at the Memorial service at 7pm. Interment will be Tuesday July 22 at 10 am at Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.,
