Ilion
Richard Burling, 62, of 80 E. North St. in Ilion passed away on Saturday August 6, 2011 at his home.
Richard was born on January 8, 1949 in Batavia, the son of James and Joyce (Crane) Burling, he was educated in Ilion and graduated in 1968.
Following high school Richard enlisted in the US Air Force serving during Vietnam. Richard was self-employed working as a finish carpenter; he was also an artist and musician.
Richard is survived by his mother Joyce of Ilion; his brothers Daniel and his wife Jean of Warsaw, James and his wife Jan of Ilion and Mark and his wife Stephanie of Largo FL., he also leaves a sister Denise Harter and her companion Dan O'Tool of New Hartford; his nieces and nephews Mary and her husband Joe Ryan, David Burling, Christine and her husband Andy Rush, Carrie Burling, Marc Burling, Melissa Burling, Dakota Beck, and Daniel Harter and his great niece and nephew Alyssa and Joseph Ryan.
He was predeceased by his father James on August 9, 2010.
A memorial service for Richard will be held on Friday August 12, 2011 at 1 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St. in Ilion, Rev. Dr. Andy Peloubet will officiate, and interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Herkimer.
Friends may call on Friday from 11am until the time of the funeral and are asked to consider memorial donations to Veteran's Outreach Center, 726 Washington Street, Utica, New York 13502.
