Richard L. Stafford 75 of 341 Second Street Ilion passed away Saturday April 24, 2010 at Faxton-St Lukes Medical Center in New Hartford.
Dick was born August 26, 1934 in Edmeston, NY the son of the late Donald and Alma Walling Stafford, and was a graduate of Sherburne Central School, he then attended Alfred State and enlisted and served as a Sergeant with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After returning from his military duty he graduated from
RIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Dick was then employed as a Mechanical Engineer with Remington Arms in Ilion until his retirement in 1990, after retirement he continued to work, part time with PMI Assoc., Ilion.
Dick was a life member and past president of the Ilion Winter Club and enjoyed hunting in the fall at Twitchell Lake with his friends.
Dick is survived by his wife Peg of Ilion two sons and daughters in law Ronald and Jewel Stafford of Ilion, and Doug and Pam Stafford of Glenville, NY, his grandchildren Andrew and Chelsea and their daughter Kendra, Amanda, Cherisse and Cordell, a brother and sister in law Dr. Eugene and Joann Stafford of Caladonia, NY and a close cousin John and Donna Zimmerman of Valecia, NY.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday April 28, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion. Interment will be in the New Berlin Cemetery at a later date.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to ones favorite charity in Richard's memory.
