Herkimer - Rev. Robert F. Hoaglander, Jr. 86, known as (Bob) went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Valley Health Service in Herkimer, NY. Rev. Hoaglander was born on August 19, 1938 in Middle Hope, NY.
He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, NY, from Gordon College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA. Upon graduation from seminary, he served as associate pastor at Trinitarian Congregation Church in Wayland, MA and Pastor of Lakeview Congregational Church in Waltham, MA, where he served faithfully for 42 years. While pastoring at Lakeview, he served as a chaplain at Waltham Hospital in Waltham, MA. "Hoagy" as he was known was a favorite counselor at Camp Brookwoods on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. Robert loved Lake Winnipesailee so much he owned a chalet on Rattlesnake Island for many years.
Rev. Hoaglander (Bob) was preceded in death by his parents Robert F. Hoaglander Sr. and Madeline (Garrison), three sisters, Astrid Andersen, Carol Johnson, and Linda Ward; two brothers, Carl and Arnold Hoaglander. He is survived by one brother, Rev. Donald Hoaglander and his wife, Deborah of Ilion, NY; six nieces, Jennifer Franks of Beacon, NY, Lynn Ward of TN, Sarah and Jeremy Harvey of TN, Cheri and Scott Budick of Saugerties, NY, Karen Brooks of TN and Ellen Andersen of Swampscott, MA; three nephews, Bill and Sue Andersen of Saugerties, NY Ed and Kristana Johnson of Rockville, MD, Jeffrey and Mary Johnson of CT and a number of great-nieces and nephews and one brother in law, Ed Johnson.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. In keeping with Bob's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A service will be planned for a later date. Interment will take place later in the Spring in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedar Hill, NY.
