Robert H. Ortlieb, 94, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC.
Robert was born September 26, 1919, in Martinsburg, New York, the son of Herman and Lily Ortlieb. He was a graduate of Lowville Academy, Lowville, NY. On April 9, 1942, Robert married Lucia Marie Mihalik. Lucia passed away January 7, 1991.
Robert was a proud WWII Veteran serving in the US Navy as a First Class Aviation Machinist.
He was employed for 39 years as a Quality Control Supervisor for Univac and Unisys Corporation. He relocated to Elk Grove Village, Illinois, in 1972.
Robert is survived by his sons Robert John and his wife Erminia of Baldwinsville, NY and William and his wife Judy of Charlotte, NC, his brothers Herman of Sotsuma, FL, Oran and his wife Mary Helen of Humbolt, AZ and Kenneth and his wife Betty of Lowville, NY. Robert has nine grandchildren; Renee and her husband Eric Ames of Constantia, NY, Robert and his wife Charulata of Staten Island, NY, Joseph of New York City, NY, Kimberly Carman of Sun City, CA, Todd of Carlsbad, CA, Michael and his wife Tracy, Travis and his wife Jen, both of Seattle, WA, Alexandra of Naperville, IL and Keith of Charlotte, NC. Also two daughters in law, Lois Ortlieb of Carlsbad, CA. and Sue Ortlieb of Naperville, IL., he was preceded in death by his two sons, Thomas J and James M; brothers and sisters Augustus, Leona, Alice, Raymond, Marjorie, Richard, Albert and Thomas.
Friends may call on Saturday, December 21, from 11:00 am until 1:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego Street in Ilion, NY.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm with Deacon James Bower officiating. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, in the spring.
