Robert L. Ott, 88, of Ilion, formerly of Baltimore, MD passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, New York.
He was born on April 25, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of George S. and Rosie Lee (Simonds) Ott.
On February 14, 1940 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Louella V. Reindollar, a blessed union of 65 years.
His beloved Lou passed away on December 6, 2004.
Rob was "a railroader" working for Pennsylvania Railroad and later Conrail.
Rob served his country well in the European Theatre during WWII and saw much action in the 35th Division, 320th Regiment (Special Forces).
Rob loved sports, particularly loved the Baltimore teams, the Orioles and the Ravens.
He also loved country music and played piano, guitar, mandolin and banjo until arthritis and loss of hearing intervened.
Rob is survived by his daughter and son in law, Lou and Jim Matousek of Herkimer, his grandsons, Jim and Sandra Matousek of Arlington, TN and Rob and Pat Matousek of Ilion.
"Pop" had 5 great grandchildren, Lauren, Rachel and Matthew of TN and Katy and Robby of Ilion.
He will be sorely missed.
In keeping with Rob's wishes there are no calling hours or public funeral.
Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, New York.
