Ronald William Farrington, Sr.
Ronald was 98 years young when he passed away on December 18, 2011 with his family at his bedside at Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Ronald was born on July 29, 1913 in Ilion, NY.
He graduated from Ilion High School, and majored in Accounting at Syracuse University.
Ronald was employed for 43 years with the Remington Arms Company of Ilion. He started his career as a Production Time Clerk and retired in 1978 as the Company's Accounting Manager.
Ronald was a lifetime member of the Ilion United Methodist Church, and also a member of the Syracuse University Alumni Association.
Ronald was a dedicated family man who deeply loved and always made his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren his primary concern; in return, Ronald's family was very devoted to him.
He was an enthusiastic college athletics sports fan, especially of Syracuse University.
Ronald was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Martha Farrington (Burrows), his parents Ida (Crossett) and Wilbur Farrington, and this spring by his dear sister Marion Kasarda.
Ronald is survived by a special friend, Catherine Ferguson of Ilion, by his daughter and husband Sally and Robert Reardon of Mohawk, his son and wife Ronald and Anne Farrington, Jr. of Ilion, his granddaughter and husband Robin and Ron Mihlbauer of Sharpsburg, GA, his granddaughter and husband Lisa and Peter Korce of Cypress, TX, his granddaughter and husband Beth and Ross Iddings of McDonough, GA, his granddaughter and husband Judith and David Jones of Watertown, MA, his grandson Ken Higgins of Boonville, his grandson and wife Paul and Sue Farrington of Ocoee, FL, his granddaughter and husband Eve Farrington-Yen and Sam Yen of Los Altos, CA, his niece and husband Kim and Lee Maley of Ilion, and his nephew and wife Edward and Mary Kay Kasarda of Cold Brook.
Ronald was blessed with twelve wonderful great grandchildren who brought him great joy.
The family wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the staff of Bassett Hospital for the outstanding care and compassion shown during Ronald's illness and passing.
A service honoring Ronald will be held on Thursday December 22, 2011 at 1pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
Rev. Robert Wollaber will officiate and interment will be in the Church St. Cemetery in Little Falls.
Friends may call on Thursday from Noon until the time of the funeral.
