Oriskany - Mr. Ronald Frank Hansel died on July 20, 2026 at the Eastern Star Hall and Home in Oriskany, NY.

He was the youngest son of Grant Hansel Sr. and Eunice Jones Hansel. Ron was born in Utica, NY on May 11, 1940 and a 1958 graduate of Richfield Springs Central School. He was raised and worked on the family's Champion Farm on Rt. 20 in East Winfield. He was a 4H member who showed dairy animals at numerous shows and won Grand Champion with his Milking Shorthorn cow at the New York State Fair. Ron owned Hansel Fuels and later trucked for several national companies throughout the US. He was a certified CDL instructor and taught Truck Driving for future drivers in Syracuse.

He is survived by one daughter, Jill Ann Hansel Baer (Nicholas), Texas; son-in-law, Jeff Plumb, Syracuse, NY; five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; brother, Kent Hansel (Laura) Maryland, NY, and sister Nancy Donahoe, Frankfort, NY; sister-in-law, Joan Hansel, Lancaster, PA and many nephews, nieces and business friends.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Heidi Hansel Plumb in November of 2023; brothers, Grant Hansel Jr. and Sheldon (Hope) Hansel. Ron was a big man with a bigger heart.

Interment will take place on August 1, 2026 at 11 am in the East Winfield Cemetery, 986 US Hwy 20, West Winfield, NY. Ron's remembrance will take place on July 31, 2026 from 3-5 pm at the Richfield Veterans Club, located at 13 Lake St. in Richfield Springs, NY. Family and friends may attend. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your family cemetery.
