Ronald Nathan Reed passed away peacefully, on March 17, 2015 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.
Ron was born on February 4, 1948 in Rome, NY, the son of the late Glenn and Betty Reed.
He attended Holland Patent, Poland and Frankfort school, graduating in 1966.
He served in the US Army from 1967-1969 with the 11th Armored Calvary Unit in Viet Nam.
On July 24, 1971, he was joined in marriage to the former Dianne Wiernicki, and they enjoyed 43 years together.
Ron was a member of the Morningstar United Methodist Church, the Copper City Bass Club and the Ilion Fish and Game Club.
He worked for Remington Arms Co for 33 years, retiring in 2008.
Ron is survived by his wife Dianne; a son Glenn (Erin), daughter Danielle (Bob) Huffman; four grandchildren Jack and Claire Reed and Drew and Max Huffman; his sisters Joan (Skip) Crookes, Priscilla (Jim) Wildey and Deborah Donahue; a brother in law Rick Ritton; an aunt Pearl Zagurski along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He also leaves his special friends Jim and Peg Curtacci and Tad Yager, Pete Tucker, Wayne Cable and their wives.
He also leaves his special furry friend Keilah.
He is predeceased by a sister Dale Ritton and a brother in law Patrick Donahue.
A memorial service for Ron will be held on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at 7pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
Rev. Robert Wollaber will officiate.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 pm until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
