Ruth Schaffer Bienkowski

Ruth Schaffer Bienkowski, 53, passed away after a brief illness. She was born October 18, 1963 in Ilion, the daughter of the late Rouland and Thora Robinson Schaffer and attended Whitesboro Schools.
Ruth was a home health care aid. She loved music, parties and spending good times with friends and family.
Ruth is survived by her longtime companion Howard Bowman, a son Leon of Marcy, her Daughters Heather Johnson of Whitesboro and Tiffany Green of Utica, two brothers and a sister in law Ron Jr. and Hoover and Angela Schaffer of West Winfield, three sisters and a brother in law, Deanna Schaffer of Laurens, Pamela Owens of West Winfield and Kristal and Michael Speziale of Cassville, her step siblings Deb Schaffer, Russ Schaffer, Bob Robinson, Bonnie Fuller and Richard Robinson. Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren Breyuana and Arieonna Johnson, Prince Anthony and Castille Green, Travis Anthony, Sakwava Hakes Jr., Ashliegh Sterling, Taylor White and Kaydon Pedrick, several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as numerous friends. She is also predeceased by a sister Betty Schaffer.
A special thanks to friends Caroline Scanlon Schaffer, Jay and Geraldine Ortiz, William Blair Jr. and Dennis Grant,.who supported her throughout her sickness, also to Hospice and Palliative Care for their support.
A Celebration of Life Will Be held Friday September 8, 2017 at the Ilion Elks Lodge from 5-9 PM. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St. Ilion. To leave an online condolence and light a candle please go to www.whiter-hendrix.com .
