Skyeler Vaughn Miner Brodkorb

February 8, 1994 — March 25, 2025

Herkimer - Mr. Skyeler Vaughn Miner Brodkorb, 31, of Herkimer, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at his home.

A self-employed musician with Excaliber, LLC, Skyeler was a multi-talented artist, mastering drums, guitar, keyboard, and vocals. He performed at countless events, including fundraisers, and was a skilled rap musician. His love for music was matched by his love for performance, having participated in The Music Man in high school, sung with the Mohawk Valley Choral Society, and been involved in NYSSMA.

Skyeler's talents extended far beyond music. A gifted chess player, he began playing at age three and won a tournament in kindergarten. He was also reading Harry Potter by the time he reached Kindergarten. He also excelled at basketball, sinking three-pointers with ease.

Deeply compassionate, Skyeler was an active member of the Knoble Knights, a group dedicated to fundraising efforts, and he volunteered in New Orleans to aid recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina. His love for animals inspired him to raise funds for a new animal shelter, always seeking ways to make a difference.

A published author, Skyeler won several awards for his writing, including recognition for his piece, "Mistakes & Mischief" in the Phaethon at Herkimer College. His creativity and intellect were as vast as his heart, touching everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Timothy Brodkorb and Heather Bloom of Pittsburgh, PA; his mother, Kimberly Miner of Keysville, GA; his sister, Laurel May Miner Brodkorb of Keysville, GA; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends—especially those in the local music community, including his close friend, Dave Jones.

Skyeler was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Eugene and Joanna Miner and Martha and Wayne Brodkorb.

In keeping with Skyeler's wishes, there will be no public services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY 13357.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Skyeler’s memory may be made to Rise Recovery Outreach Center, 500 West Albany Street, Herkimer NY 13350 , to support the ongoing work of helping those in need.

Skyeler’s light shone brightly, and his music, kindness, and spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
