Una C. Avery (Christman), 81, passed away July 22, 2015 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born October 3, 1933 in the Town of Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Eva Aletha (Barney) Christman and was a graduate of Poland Schools.
In her younger years Una worked in the family saw mill with her parents.
She was employed at UNIVAC prior to retirement, she also worked with the Office of The Aging. She was a member of the WOTM 1010 and active in lodge affairs.
In April of 1996 Una married Donald Avery, he passed away in August of 2006.
Una is survived by two sons Jonathan and his wife Judy Christman of Frankfort, Greg Nellis and his fianc Sandy LeClair of Mohawk, three daughters Cathy Marie Biviano and her companion Greg Drumm, Betty Jane Nellis, all of Chittenango and Yuanita Charmaine Charles and her fianc John Roberts of Herkimer. Una is also survived by three sisters Leah Seelman of Steuben, Emma Stafford of the Town of Ohio and Wilma and her husband Lester Beaudin of Poland also eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, and many extended family members.
She was predeceased by her infant son Jimmy, and sisters Betty Bussey, Eva Farber and Mary Morgan.
In keeping with Una's wishes funeral services are private and at the convenience of her family, with final interment in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Poland. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St, Ilion.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to a Cancer Charity of one's choice.
