Virginia 'Ginny' Shaw

Virginia McCoy Shaw, 87, formerly of Ilion and Schuyler, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Folt's Home Herkimer after a full and caring life. Ginny was born May 11, 1928 in Ilion the daughter of the late Allston A. and Alma Fallon McCoy and was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On October 30, 1948 she was united in marriage with Roger A. Shaw in Frankfort, he passed away June 27, 1982.
Ginny was employed as manager of The Valley Telephone Exchange prior to her retirement and before that worked at AGWAY in Herkimer. She was a member of the Crowley-Barnum Post American Legion, Mohawk where she served in all the different offices over the years and was also active with the County Auxiliary as an officer. Ginny was a giving person dedicating her time to the Foster Grandparent program, Meals on Wheels, the Food Bank the church meals program and in her younger years as a den mother. In her early married years she was a drummer in her husband band Roger and The Legionnaires, she was an avid golfer served as treasurer of three leagues. Ginny was well traveled including trips to Ireland and Hawaii she enjoyed life to the fullest.
Ginny is survived by a daughter and son in law Cheryl and Carlton Holmes of Liverpool, two sons Roger and Marjorie Shaw of Salam, Conn. and Jeffery and his wife Georg-Kares Hawks of Endicott, a brother Robert McCoy of Ilion, a sister Theresa Foster of Ca. She is also survived by her grandchildren John Delia, Christopher Delia, Ryan Shaw and Stefenie Shaw also four great grandchildren Derek Heiser, Thomas Bean, Ryder Sanders and Wyatt Delia also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings Alston Jr., Arthur, Marion, Barbara and Ester.
Virginia's funeral service will began at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM from the Church of the Annunciation, with Rev. Paul Contina officiating. Interment will follow in the East Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3-6 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home.
