William E. 'Bill' Ackley

William E. Ackley, 91 of Forge Hill Estates, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday October 31, 2013.
Bill was born on March 29, 1922 in Frankfort, the son of the late Leslie and Mary (Garvey) Ackley.
He was educated in Frankfort and served in the US Army during WWII.
On December 28, 1946 Bill married the former Jule Guinane in Plains PA. Bill was employed as a production supervisor at Remington Arms Co., retiring in 1982.
Bill was a communicant of Annunciation Church in Ilion and served as a Eucharistic Minister, he was also a member of Ilion Elks Lodge #1444, the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post #25, the AARP and was a life member of the DAV.
Bill is survived by his wife Jule of Ilion; a son John and his wife Valerie Ackley of Saratoga; a daughter Marilyn and her husband Salvatore Guarniere of Haymarket VA; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He also leaves a sister in law Mildred Ackley of Utica.
Bill is predeceased by two brothers Leslie and John "Gil" and two sisters Marjorie Leach and Mary Mills.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Bill on Monday November 4, 2013 at 1pm at The Church of The Annunciation in Ilion; Fr. Paul Catena will officiate, assisted by Deacon James Bower.
Friends may call on Sunday November 3, from 4 to 7 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. The Ilion Elks will conduct ritual services Sunday at 6pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Mt. Oliviet Cemetery in Frankfort.
