Ilion - Mr. William Pryse Burger, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by his loving daughters.
Born in Ilion on August 26, 1950, Billy was a lifelong member of the community he cherished. He was a son of the late, William and Juanita Smith Burger. He attended Ilion Schools and graduated from Ilion High School with the Class of 1969 and went on to attend Monroe Community College in Rochester.
For 26 years, Billy proudly served as a Mailman for the United States Postal Service in Ilion. Prior to his employment with the USPS, he was employed with the Village of Ilion Street Department. He was a proud and active member of the Ilion Elks, where he enjoyed the company of his friends and traveling on their many bus trips to Saratoga and Yankee Stadium. His true delight came from spending time with his family, especially his cherished children and grandchildren. Billy’s passions also included golfing on beautiful days and listening to music while cruising around. His zippy one-liners and easy going attitude left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Billy is survived by his beloved "favorite" daughters, Jennifer Burger, Leigh Burger and Kristen Roberts and her husband, Adam; his grandchildren, Pryse Krowicki, Malina Kenyon, Eviana Kenyon, Lincoln Kenyon, Macie Burger and Andie Roberts; his siblings, Eric Burger and his wife, Peggy, Sharman and her husband, Bob Richards, Lance Burger and his wife, Leslie, Tina Riley, Julia and her husband, Roger Murray and Kurt Burger and his wife, Erin; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 2-4 pm in the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. A funeral service will follow at 4 pm at the funeral home. Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate Billy’s life and honor his memory at the Ilion Elks immediately following services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Billy's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
