About Us

The Whiter Funeral Company was founded in 1893 by H.A. Whiter. Originally located in Forestport, NY, the funeral home was relocated to Ilion in the early 1900's, following a fire. The funeral home has been in operation at its present location since 1935. The name of the funeral home was changed to the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home in 1957 when it was owned and operated by Howard and Erminia (Whiter) Hendrix, both licensed funeral directors. In 2021, the firm was acquired by Heather A. Rauch and Vincent G. Iocovozzi who continue to operate the funeral home to this day. They are proud to carry on the legacy of the Whiter & Hendrix families, serving the Mohawk Valley with the same care and dignity shown since 1893.

Our facilities are fully handicap accessible with two ramps and wide doorways with ample off-street parking. Our chapel area offers a homey atmosphere, fully equipped with modern audio-visual equipment.
